La Louvière (Belgium) - Dräger Medical requests Advanced Networks to perform the WLAN Site Survey for Telemetry units for patient monitoring in the "Centre Hospitaliers de Jolimont" hospital in Jolimont.

The patient monitoring environment demands unique network requirements. Because patient status can literally change in a heartbeat, it is vital to minimize transmission delays and to avoid interference as much as possible.

Advanced Networks is specialised in WLAN Site Surveys for Infinity® Telemetry devices from Dräger.
A telemetry unit is an area of a hospital where special machines are used to help staff closely monitor patients.

Telemetry is a way to send data electronically from one point to another. In the telemetry unit, machines record electronic data related to each patient. The machines then send this data to a central area where it can be displayed on TV screens for staff to read. This allows every patient in the unit to be monitored closely.

Machines in a telemetry unit measure specific body functions. The most common measurements are heart rate and electrocardiogram, or ECG. The ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. Blood pressure, rate of breathing, temperature, and level of oxygen in the blood can also be measured if needed.

Over a 70-year period, the hospital grew into a medium-sized regional hospital with 334 authorized beds for hospitalization. In the mid-90s, a separate polyclinic facility was built, with 45 beds.
